EXPLAIN was a German research project to develop process-oriented authoring management platforms that include intelligent didactical methods and patterns for an easy content creation.

The project finished in 2007. As a result, IMC developed together with 5 other partners a web-based authoring management system. Results from the research activities have been used after the project to extend the content creation tools of IMC, especially LECTURNITY and POWERTRAINER with new features for instructional design and intelligence within content creation.
