Media Supported Learning- and Collaboration Services
Electro-mobility will strongly change the automobile industry. To prepare the roughly 40.000 auto repair shops in Germany at an early stage for this technological change the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology has launched the project MEMO.
MEMO stands for "Media Supported Learning- and Collaboration Services for Electro-Mobility". MEMO aims at utilizing internet-based learning and training offerings to provide the 460.000 employees in the automotive crafts area at an early stage with the necessary knowledge.
The new concepts of electro-mobility offer large growth prospects, but also generate a considerable demand for qualification. From battery technology via drive engineering to communication technology within the car – the required knowledge will be needed so quickly and comprehensively that it can only be covered by methods of learning and collaboration via the internet.
In MEMO, the existing professional system of education and training in the automotive crafts domain is planned to be extended with internet technologies that are combined with Web 2.0 oriented services. The services will provide access to information about new products or novel methods and processes related to electro-mobility, will include educational games, allow direct contact to experts, work with shared-services like a common user and learning profile management, will make available target group specific solutions for the generation 50+ and will provide certification possibilities. The MEMO concept is designed to be open: the services can be integrated into the offerings of the learning providers and Chambers of Crafts so that the learners can access the services using their already familiar platforms.
The project MEMO is related to the German Federal Government's National Electro-mobility Development Plan and the National Platform Electro-mobility founded in 2010. The Federal Government's aim is to see one million electric vehicles on Germany's roads by 2020.
IMC is a leading technology and integration partner in MEMO. IMC will design the learning architecture, will develop respective applications and services, and will take care of interoperability issues.
